MFT is working harder than ever to inspire you, and we have come up with something we think you'll really enjoy. Our Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature, where the design team is challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product or technique. This month, our challenge was to create a wreath! Be sure to check the MFT Blog today for a list of all the designers who have projects to inspire you to use your MFT goodies in a different way!
I used a lot of Die-namics to create this wreath which is now hanging on my front door.
I used a fun mix of colors - suitable for Spring, Summer, and perhaps Fall :) I started with a styrofoam wreath base which I wrapped with strips of muslin. I used muslin I had on hand and ripped lengths off approximately 2" wide. The welcome banner was created by cutting banners from Kraft cardstock using the Jumbo Banner Day STAX Die-namics and adhering letters cut from Chocolate felt with the By the Letters Uppercase Die-namics. I glued each piece to a piece of burlap ribbon from The Ribbon Carousel and secured it to my decorated wreath using stick pins. I used kraft grosgrain ribbon for my hanger. I used the 3/8" Rosette Die-namics and the 1/4" Rosette Die-namics to create full size rosettes and mini rosettes (cut your die cut/scored piece in half lengthwise to create a smaller version). I chose the Memoir paper pad from Studio Calico to work with because I really love the colors and small patterns. I used LOTS of felt to create various rolled flowers, some I rolled two together to create a larger flower. All the leaves were cut from Jellybean green felt using the Royal Leaves Die-namics.
I created a double Royal Rose from Banana Split felt and Blue Skies felt with the Large Royal Rose Die-namics. A single Large Royal Rose from banana split felt was also included. I used English Rose felt for a double Rolled Scalloped Flower and a Mini Rolled Rose from Vintage Blue felt.
On the upper portion, there is a Rolled Flower in Blue Skies felt, a Rolled Scalloped Flower in Banana Split felt, and a Mini Rolled Rose in English Rose felt. All in all this project came together very quickly once I decided which flowers to use!! As an aside, the Rosettes Die-namics are new to me and I LOVE them. I am not just saying that either. I know I am a bit late getting on the train. I have made a few rosettes by hand before and really didn't find them worth the trouble of all the scoring and folding (and they never seemed to be "perfect"). Well, these Die-namics are awesome -so easy to fold along the lines scored by the die and simple to put together. I should have got them ages ago. Okay, consider that fair warning you might be seeing lots of rosettes from me in the near future. Here are all the Die-namics I used today.
Well, I hope you enjoyed this fun project from me today!! I love coming home and seeing this on my door. My kids might be a teensy sick of hearing me say - Oh, wow, look at that beautiful wreath! LOL :) Have a great day!!
