March Key Ingredients Challenge

Key Ingredients Subscriber Challenge
Hello!!!! Today is our Key Ingredients Design Team Blog Hop featuring our gorgeous March Key Ingredients kit. The theme this month is "Spring into Organization".  Key Ingredients subscribers are invited to play along, too!  Thank you to everyone who joined us last month!  Remember to link up your creation for this month at Taylor's blog.  You will have the chance to win a Taylored Expressions stamp set of your choice!!

Hmm, organization.... there are so many ways that I am lacking in that department!  I started small :)  One thing that  I am fairly good about is keeping my stamping space clear (by that I mean my immediate work area - other areas are still kind of messy!).  One thing that is hard to control is the pile of sketches I have printed out in hopes of working with!  Then when I really LOVE a sketch, it tends to linger much longer :)  So, I bought an inexpensive journal at Staples and altered it using this month's Key Ingredients kit.  Here it is.

The beauty of this is that the brown is the original color, so it was very easy to add something to pretty up.  I used every item in the kit - This & That Graceful paper, cardstock, ribbon, & brads.  The scallop border was cut from the pink cardstock using the Medium scallop border die.  I layered a From the Heart Frame cut from Buttercream cardstock over a Take Note Frame 3 cut from one of the patterned papers.  I used my computer and printer to print "Sketches" on the From the Heart Frame and stamped the large solid rose image from Rosy Posey.  A couple brads and voila a nice little bookplate for my new sketch book.

The journal is just over 8" tall, so I did a bit of piecing with the patterned paper - the ruler pattern made this very easy :)  For the border, I cut two and laid them next to each other and trimmed.  You can't even tell.  The elastic that I have tied my bow on is one of those wrap arounds that come on some journals.  I opted to keep it for now :)  Here is how it looks with that off and a look at the inside.  I print my sketches four to a page, so I will just cut them up  and paste in my book.  It won't be all that pretty inside, but functional.  I can jot down a few notes or perhaps keep track of what projects I have used the sketches for, etc.

I am hoping this book will help me reduce the clutter a bit more :)  If you missed any of the info for this month's gorgeous kit, check it out on The Key Ingredients Blog and you can sign up to become a subscriber right HERE.

I hope you will play along with this month's "Spring into Organization" challenge and link up your creation at Taylor's blog!! Be sure to check out what the rest of the DT has created to inspire you.

I am loving this journal. Can i ask what adhesive you used to get it to stick to the journal? I so want to try this. GREAT way to store your sketches, and I want to make one for my addresses and stuff too. :)

Fab idea and will definately use that as soon as my stamp collection is catalogued (mammoth task lol). I too have sketched everywhere which add to clutter - thank you so much for sharing.

Hugs, Mette
