Gallery Idol Round 3

Hello!!  I can't believe I am still "in it"!!  I am so excited and beyond honored to have made it to the Gallery Idol Top 10 in the company of 9 of the most fantastic designers!!  The theme for Round 3 is fabric meets paper.  Well, unlucky for me I recently downsized my fabric scrap collection to make room for paper crafting goodies.  But, lucky for me my fabulous sister is the queen of quilting and a fabric fanatic :)  I took a ride over to her house, while my wonderful husband put the kiddos to bed on Friday evening & picked me out some inspiring fabric!  I had a couple plans of action & actually made two cards!  (Note to self: don't ever do that again - I did not realize what a difficult task it would be to choose one.  As I am drafting this at 1:40 am Monday morning I still have not picked which of my cards to post.)  I had to choose & choose I did 30 minutes before the deadline.  Here it is.

Can you spot the fabric?  Well, all the elements with the exception of the kraft card base, the black mat, and the sentiment circle are fabric!!  The purple butterflies were fussy cut from one fabric and adhered to the newsprint fabric using fusible web.  The antennae were handstitched with embroidery floss.  That panel and the black print fabric on the bottom were stitched to a piece of black cardstock.

The green scallop border is more fabric cut with a steel die and stitched onto the main panel.  The edges of the fabric were frayed all around for some added texture.  The scallop circle was also adhered with fusible web and the sentiment circle popped on foam tape on top.  I love this sentiment from Verve Stamps - trust in God's plan even though things might not look how you want, there is a plan.

I added some crochet trim (a wide trim was cut lengthwise to make it a bit more narrow) and pearls to finish it off. I love the look of all these fabric elements, and of course these same techniques could be employed with paper, too :)
So, by now you know the drill!!  I would love if you would hop over to the Paper Crafts Gallery Idol contest page, peruse the eye candy there, and vote for your favorite!!!  Voting will end at noon MDT, Thursday July 28th.  The five ladies with the most votes will move on to the fourth and final round and have a chance to win a spot on the Paper Crafts cruise!!!!  Eeek, can you imagine??  I am not even letting myself go there!  Wish me luck (and votes) in getting to the Top 5!!!  Thank you so much for stopping by today!!!  Have a great week!  Now, go vote!!!
