Gallery Idol - Round 1

Hello!!!!!  I am over the moon to share with you my card for the first round of Gallery Idol 2011.  The Top 20 from the Open Auditions were tasked with the theme of DIY embellishments.  My mind went a little crazy on this one - I tend to over think!  I went back to the tried and true flowers after fiddling around with numerous other things for a couple days :)  These flowers have a new to me spin on them - ric rac!  Here is my submission for Round 1.

The supply list is at the end of this post.  Here is another view.

I love that center pink rose!!!  I used medium ric rac for all the flowers.  To make the pink one, you need two lengths of ric rac.  You intertwine the two pieces, stitch along the bottom edge, start rolling.   I used hot glue to secure as I rolled (sure don't miss using that stuff - lol!)  Here is a great tutorial with pictures.  The yellow flowers were easy peasy - hand stitch along the "peaks" of one edge of the ribbon, pull the thread to gather, secure with a few more stitches or hot glue.  Here is a close-up of the blooms :)

And the interior of the card.

Now I can breathe, after a lot of butterflies in the stomach and nail biting - at least until Friday when we will found out who is moving onto Round 2!!  Keep your fingers crossed.  There are more details on the Paper Crafts Connections blog.  The grand prize winner at the end of Round 4 will receive - get this - a Paper Crafts CRUISE!!!!!  How sweet would that be!  Now, head on over to the voting booth for Gallery Idol 2011.  To vote you will need to register or login with your facebook account.  You will be blown away by all the fabulous creations!! Check out all twenty submissions and cast your vote!!  Thank you for stopping by today!!  Have a great week :)
