Boston Strong

Hello, I couldn't let today pass without commemorating the anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings.  It was a year ago that many people's lives were changed forever.  My husband ran the marathon last year and is running it again this year (this coming Monday), so it is very much on my mind.  I still think often of the people who lost their lives that day, the families coping with those losses, and the hundreds of people injured.  I am pretty sure every time someone speaks of a marathon (and in my house that is pretty often), I will be reminded of April 15, 2013.

The scrapbook store local to me, Absolutely Everything, worked together with Hero Arts after the attack to create a "Boston Strong" stamp.  All proceeds from the sale of this stamp go to the One Fund Boston, a fund set up to help those most affected by the Boston Marathon bombings.  I believe if you want one, you will need to call the store or check out their Facebook page.   Of course, you can also donate directly to the One Fund.  I purchased a stamp sometime last year and it has had a space on my shelf ever since.  Saturday night I was finally feeling like it was time to create something with it.  Here is what I came up with.

I used Distress ink with the Sun Ray stencil to create a perfect backdrop for the sentiment.  I sprinkled some heart die cuts around - because I thought it fit with the tone surrounding this year's marathon - one of strength, love, and support.

That is pretty much all I have to say today.  I do know for a fact that another Boston area stamper, Jennifer Ingle (aka Jingle), is working some magic with this stamp today, too :)  Be sure to stop by her blog and check out what she has come up with.  And another Massachusetts stamper - Jenn Shurkus - also has  great card on her blog using this stamp, so check it out!

Go be happy today - enjoy the life you have, thank God for your blessings, and let your family know you love them.  I can guarantee you that is what I will be doing!

Stitched Circle Hello...Mojo Monday #341

Hello!  It is time for a brand new Mojo Monday sketch!  Julee has a great sketch for you this week.  Here is my card using sketch #341.

I used the Circles & Diamonds Stitched Pattern die from Lil' Inker for the background.  I had made a watercolor panel using a rainbow of Distress inks last week.  I cut a strip of it and ran it through my die cut machine with the Circles & Diamonds die.  A sentiment from the Darling Diamonds stamp set was stamped in Black Licorice hybrid ink on a Stitched Circle die cut.  Here is a close-up of the stenciled panel behind the sentiment.

I used the Sun Ray Stencil from My Favorite Things with Squeezed Lemonade Distress ink. I added a coating of Clear Wink of Stella to the rays.  I also used Distress inks to color the Fishtail Flags.  Here is this week's sketch.

Be sure to visit all the Mojo Makers blogs today - links are in my side bar or you can find thumbnails of everyone's creations on the Mojo Monday blog.  I hope you find sometime to play along with us this week :)  Have a fabulous week!

POW!!! April Release Rewind

Hello friends!! Welcome to the April Release Rewind for My Favorite Things. You can check out all the new products that were released Tuesday night right HERE. Yesterday and today the Design Team is taking a look back at this month's release and showing some more projects to inspire you.

I have two cards to share using the new set from Birdie Brown, You're Super.  First I have a super CAS card.

I stamped the "burst" and sentiment on a white card base and colored with Copic markers.  The shield was stamped on the coordinating die cut shape cut with the You're Super Die-namics.  I popped up the shield on the card with foam boosters.  Here is a close-up.

Here are the MFT products I used on this card.

My next card is a bit less simple :)

I stamped the super heroine on watercolor paper and colored using Distress markers and a water brush.  The Bokeh Builder background was stamped in Banana Split and Lemon Drop ink.  I cut the panel using the Blueprints 14 Die-namics and matted it on a Black Licorice panel cut using the same Blueprints.  The large panel was cut from Wild Cherry card stock using Blueprints 3 Die-namics.  Once I had the Blueprints 3 on my desk, I realized the pierced circles would look really neat as part of the Bokeh background :)  I cut them from Lemon Drop card stock.  The burst was stamped in Black Licorice Hybrid ink, cut with the You're Super Die-namics, and the outer border was colored with a red Distress marker.  Here is a closer look.

Here are the MFT products I used on this card.

I have the privilege of sharing three cards I made using the super cute new Baby's Bib Die-namics.  This Die-namics cut an adorable bib complete with stitching detail that is sure to become the centerpiece of many cards, scrapbook pages, and baby gifts!  I'll start with the "Congratulations" baby card suitable for a boy or girl.

For this card I cut the bib from Sweet Tooth felt.  I used the duck from the Oh Baby Die-namics for the cut-out in the center of the bib.  I then backed it with a second bib cut from card stock for stability.  The Banana Split felt duck complete with a Sno Cone felt eye was glued into the negative space of the Sweet Tooth bib.  I finished the bib off with a canvas badge from my stash.  Here is a closer look.

A star from Lisa Johnson Designs Beautiful Baby was stamped in Lemon Drop ink on the badge.  The Blueprints 13 Die-namics was used for the stitched card front.  The sentiment from Beautiful Baby was stamped in Chocolate Brown ink and flanked by stars from the same set stamped in Banana Split ink.  Here is the inside of the card.

I sponged Banana Split ink through the Starry Night stencil as a backdrop for a second sentiment from Beautiful Baby.  Don't you love this font combination?  Here are the MFT products I used on this card.

My second card is definitely for a little baby boy :)

For this card I used the Blueprints 14 Die-namics for the stitched front panel and the dotted detail on the white panel.  Stars from Beautiful Baby were stamped on that panel prior to cutting with the dotted Die-namics.  I used the Cloudy Day stencil to emboss the Kraft panel, too.  And I stamped the Star Background on the blue card stock in coordinating ink prior to cutting with the Baby's Bib Die-namics.

Here is the inside of this card.

I used the stitched circle that I cut from the bib for a second sentiment on the inside.  Here are the MFT products I used on this card.

And my last card is perfect for a new baby girl.

I used the Blueprints 14 Die-namics again, but this time put the pieces together on a larger card.  The final size of this card is approximately 5" x 6".  The rattle from Beautiful Baby was stamped in Pink Lemonade ink on Pink Lemonade card stock.  Here is a close-up.

I would normally use the metal plate in my die cut machine to get the little dots of the scallop to pop out cleanly.  I didn't use the shim so the cut outs would stay in their position (they could still easily be poked out though).  Here is the inside of this card.

The elephants were stamped in Pink Lemonade ink with a sentiment in Steel Grey ink.  Here are the MFT products I used on this card.

Thank you so much for stopping by and sticking with me through this post :) Now be sure to visit the MFT Blog to get linked up with all the fabulous MFT designers and get those comments in for your chance to win! And... Happy Shopping!! Have a great night!
