Thinking of You...Mojo Monday #342

Hello :)  Hope all that celebrate had a very Happy Easter!  We did :)  It is time for a brand new Mojo Monday sketch.  Here is my card.

The highlights of this simple card - I used Wplus9's Fresh Cut Florals to stamp a strip on a card base that I had masked off using post-it tape.  I then ran the card base through my die cut machine twice with the stitched Die-namics from Blueprints 13.  The sentiment is from Taylored Expressions' Chalkboard Elements 2.  Here is a close-up.

I kind of love how the stamped card base came out!   I used lots of colors of MFT's dye inks.  Here is this week's sketch, which I modified just a bit :)

Be sure to check out the other Mojo Makers blogs for loads of inspiration.  Links can be found in my side bar or at the linky on the Mojo Monday blog.

I am making this post short and sweet - it's been a long weekend here!! School vacation is this week and today is the Boston Marathon.  My hubby is running, so I will once again be taking the kids to see him run by - the life of a marathon wife - lol!  Have a fantastic week :)

Boston Strong

Hello, I couldn't let today pass without commemorating the anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings.  It was a year ago that many people's lives were changed forever.  My husband ran the marathon last year and is running it again this year (this coming Monday), so it is very much on my mind.  I still think often of the people who lost their lives that day, the families coping with those losses, and the hundreds of people injured.  I am pretty sure every time someone speaks of a marathon (and in my house that is pretty often), I will be reminded of April 15, 2013.

The scrapbook store local to me, Absolutely Everything, worked together with Hero Arts after the attack to create a "Boston Strong" stamp.  All proceeds from the sale of this stamp go to the One Fund Boston, a fund set up to help those most affected by the Boston Marathon bombings.  I believe if you want one, you will need to call the store or check out their Facebook page.   Of course, you can also donate directly to the One Fund.  I purchased a stamp sometime last year and it has had a space on my shelf ever since.  Saturday night I was finally feeling like it was time to create something with it.  Here is what I came up with.

I used Distress ink with the Sun Ray stencil to create a perfect backdrop for the sentiment.  I sprinkled some heart die cuts around - because I thought it fit with the tone surrounding this year's marathon - one of strength, love, and support.

That is pretty much all I have to say today.  I do know for a fact that another Boston area stamper, Jennifer Ingle (aka Jingle), is working some magic with this stamp today, too :)  Be sure to stop by her blog and check out what she has come up with.  And another Massachusetts stamper - Jenn Shurkus - also has  great card on her blog using this stamp, so check it out!

Go be happy today - enjoy the life you have, thank God for your blessings, and let your family know you love them.  I can guarantee you that is what I will be doing!

Stitched Circle Hello...Mojo Monday #341

Hello!  It is time for a brand new Mojo Monday sketch!  Julee has a great sketch for you this week.  Here is my card using sketch #341.

I used the Circles & Diamonds Stitched Pattern die from Lil' Inker for the background.  I had made a watercolor panel using a rainbow of Distress inks last week.  I cut a strip of it and ran it through my die cut machine with the Circles & Diamonds die.  A sentiment from the Darling Diamonds stamp set was stamped in Black Licorice hybrid ink on a Stitched Circle die cut.  Here is a close-up of the stenciled panel behind the sentiment.

I used the Sun Ray Stencil from My Favorite Things with Squeezed Lemonade Distress ink. I added a coating of Clear Wink of Stella to the rays.  I also used Distress inks to color the Fishtail Flags.  Here is this week's sketch.

Be sure to visit all the Mojo Makers blogs today - links are in my side bar or you can find thumbnails of everyone's creations on the Mojo Monday blog.  I hope you find sometime to play along with us this week :)  Have a fabulous week!

POW!!! April Release Rewind

Hello friends!! Welcome to the April Release Rewind for My Favorite Things. You can check out all the new products that were released Tuesday night right HERE. Yesterday and today the Design Team is taking a look back at this month's release and showing some more projects to inspire you.

I have two cards to share using the new set from Birdie Brown, You're Super.  First I have a super CAS card.

I stamped the "burst" and sentiment on a white card base and colored with Copic markers.  The shield was stamped on the coordinating die cut shape cut with the You're Super Die-namics.  I popped up the shield on the card with foam boosters.  Here is a close-up.

Here are the MFT products I used on this card.

My next card is a bit less simple :)

I stamped the super heroine on watercolor paper and colored using Distress markers and a water brush.  The Bokeh Builder background was stamped in Banana Split and Lemon Drop ink.  I cut the panel using the Blueprints 14 Die-namics and matted it on a Black Licorice panel cut using the same Blueprints.  The large panel was cut from Wild Cherry card stock using Blueprints 3 Die-namics.  Once I had the Blueprints 3 on my desk, I realized the pierced circles would look really neat as part of the Bokeh background :)  I cut them from Lemon Drop card stock.  The burst was stamped in Black Licorice Hybrid ink, cut with the You're Super Die-namics, and the outer border was colored with a red Distress marker.  Here is a closer look.

Here are the MFT products I used on this card.

Be sure to check the Brand New Department at the MFT Boutique for all the newest products!
